For as long as I can remember I have been thrilled by the tingle of opening a box. Enchanted by the promise of what's inside. Touched by the care of the person wrapping it or the person sending it. It is this very physical feeling that I wanted to share when I started making jewellery.
I love the process of jewellery making. To take hard, raw material and craft it into a beautiful, personal form is so special. The range of techniques available is vast and therefore the possibilities are only limited by our imagination.
Inspirations comes from everywhere and my favourite source of ideas is nature and her forms and shapes. Simplicity is also a key element in many of our designs, often the materials themselves are so beautiful that it is a shame to clutter the senses with complexity.
Gemstones, silver, gold, copper, glass or silk form the base of most of our designs with the occasional dalliance into leather and ceramics. All of our materials are natural and sustainability is very important to us. We use recycled materials where possible and we don't use synthetics in any of our pieces, we don't need to, nature really has done most of our work for us.
Fiona Pinner, Founder (the original 'Tiny B')
Each piece of Tiny Boxes jewellery is designed to be touched as well as worn. We believe that a tactile focus can bring tremendous calm to the mind.
From a very early age we explore the world through touch and this instinct never leaves us. We can feel the touch of others through the gifts that they give us.
My favourite focus is my wedding ring. Not only does it connect me to my wonderful husband but it is also a talisman of my past. It was originally my Great Grandmother's wedding ring and was then worn by my Nana too. I am the third generation of my family to wear this ring everyday, to do everything.
